Storytelling with purpose

About me

Rob Osborne presenting on ITV Wales

As the National Correspondent for ITV Cymru Wales and presenter of Sharp End, I’ve had the privilege of covering the political stories and key events that shape our world.

Whether breaking news or offering in-depth political analysis, I aim to clarify complex topics and make the news accessible to everyone.

I grew up in the Rhondda Valley, where every street corner comes with big characters, plenty of chat and a bit of banter. It’s the sort of place that teaches you how to start a conversation with anyone—looking back, it was perfect preparation for my career. I thrive on connecting with people through sharing their stories on TV or hosting live events. Keeping things engaging, lively, and even a little humorous is what I love most.

A big part of my work involves interviewing key decision makers, from political leaders to cultural influences, to bring informed perspectives on the world. I’ve also produced, presented, and directed documentaries on subjects such as male suicide and the life of King Charles. I always focus on making complex issues clear and relatable, especially in a world where disinformation is so prevalent.

Outside of journalism, I’m a mentor and charity trustee, helping the next generation of journalists find their voice. My work with Mencap has allowed me to help people with learning disabilities share their stories and engage with the media—something I’m incredibly proud of.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me walking my Beagle along the coast, listening to podcasts and planning my next adventure. As a fluent Welsh speaker (Siaradwr Cymraeg), I’m passionate about telling stories that resonate across Wales and beyond.
