Privacy and data protection

This notice explains how I handle personal information when you contact me through this website. I've kept it short and plain, because I collect very little.

Who I am

This website is run by Rob Osborne, a sole trader providing event hosting, media training, media consultancy and broadcast commentary. I am the data controller for the information you send me. You can contact me about anything in this notice at mrrobosborne@gmail.com.

What I collect

I only collect the information you choose to give me when you get in touch – usually your name, email address, organisation, and details about your event, training needs or media enquiry.

I don't run a mailing list, I don't send marketing emails, and I don't sell or share your details with anyone for marketing.

Why I use it

I use your information only to reply to your enquiry and, if we work together, to arrange and deliver the booking. The legal basis for this is my legitimate interest in responding to people who contact me, and taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement with you.

Who else sees it

Your message passes through the companies that provide my website and email:

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website and its contact form

  • Google, which provides my email

These providers may store data outside the UK. They use recognised legal safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it. I don't share your information with anyone else unless the law requires me to.

How long I keep it

If your enquiry doesn't lead to a booking, I delete it within two years. If we work together, I keep the relevant records for six years after the work ends, because that is how long tax rules require business records to be kept.

Your rights

You can ask me to see the information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Just email mrrobosborne@gmail.com and I'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies. Some are essential to make the site work. Others help me understand how many people visit and which pages they read – these are only set if you agree to them through the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.
