Live Report on £1.2bn Hospital Maintenance Backlog: Princess of Wales Hospital's Critical Issues
I contributed to a report highlighting severe structural problems at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. Hospital staff described the building as being "left to rot," with incidents of water damage, vegetation growth, and blocked guttering affecting patient care. The health board declared a critical incident, with nearly 200 patients initially impacted, and acknowledged the extensive repairs underway.
My report shed light on the broader £1.2bn maintenance backlog facing the Welsh hospital estate.
